Contact UsWhat Is IPL?
When you are concerned about how your facial skin looks because of dark spots or sun damage, The Beauty Beneath can offer you a skin examination at our Vandalia, OH office to see if you qualify for intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy. A photofacial with IPL is a skin rejuvenation treatment for adult men and women with hyperpigmentation problems on their neck and face. IPL may not be invasive, but it can be very effective and create excellent results. A member of our team will use the advanced Stellar M22 handpiece to send intense pulses of light that heat the skin to start the natural healing process and boost collagen production. IPL is effective in treating age spots, reducing the appearance of redness, rosacea, and seborrheic keratosis or wart-like growths, rejuvenating the skin, minimizing pores, treating acne and acne scars, and fading cherry angiomas. As the added nutrients take effect, you should see a healthier complexion with a more even tone and fewer dark spots.
What are the benefits of IPL treatment?
IPL photofacials are sought-after at The Beauty Beneath for their restorative qualities. A number of the benefits that patients enjoy from IPL facials involve:
- A soothing, spa-like procedure that supports overall skin radiance
- Balancing of uneven pigment, sunspots, and age spots
- Smoother skin tone and texture
- Refreshed, transformed skin appearance
- Collapse or fade cherry angiomas
- Reduce the appearance of wart-like growths like seborrheic keratosis
Who Is An Ideal Candidate For IPL?
An IPL photofacial reaches deep within the layers of your skin to improve several complexion problems (especially sun spots and brown lesions) with little or no recovery time. Ideal candidates for an IPL photofacial at The Beauty Beneath may have a combination of concerns with their skin, including rosacea, sun damage, hyperpigmentation (brown spots), rough texture, visible pores, redness, freckles, sun and age spots, seborrheic keratosis, cherry angiomas, or spider veins. Dr. Rick Gerbhart will assess your complexion to determine if you are a candidate for a photofacial during your initial consultation.
What to Expect from IPL
There is no recovery time associated with a photofacial. You will leave our office with your complexion a little swollen and pink. This will subside on its own in about a day — it can be concealed with makeup if you prefer. The Beauty Beneath team advises using an ointment on the treated skin to decrease irritation and promote healing. It also helps to use an over-the-counter anti-inflammatory medicine to help ease swelling. Over the next 2 – 5 days, the irregularities under the skin will come to the surface skin layers and then begin to flake off. It is critical to keep your skin protected from the sun at all times after an IPL photofacial treatment and to not pick at the flaking skin. While you will see some visible improvements after the first treatment, your complexion will attain the best results after multiple IPL treatments. Our staff suggests approximately 3 – 6 treatments done every four weeks at The Beauty Beneath.
